This children's book, written by the wife of Vernon Dahmer's grandson, should be in every school library in our country. It shows what courage and sacrifice and dedication to equality for all looks like. The illustrations are beautiful, and the story is told on a level for children to understand.

Great Educational Picture Book
This picture book would make a great addition to curriculum in upper elementary or middle grades when learning more about the Civil Rights movement in the American south. Vernon Dahmer stood up for his community and paid with this life when the KKK tried to silence him. The book includes educational materials and a list of references. The book is carefully and beautifully done.
